For its 30th Ordinary General Assembly, the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD) is pleased to invite members of the media to cover the Open Session, scheduled for Sunday, 15 February 2026, at the African Union Commission (AUC) Old Building in Addis Ababa, under the theme:
“Strengthening the Resilience of Women and Girls: Climate, Conflict and a Sustainable Future.”

The 30th Ordinary General Assembly will take place from Wednesday, 11 February to Sunday, 15 February 2026. The first four days (11–14 February) will be dedicated to technical consultations of the Advisors to African First Ladies, as well as closed working sessions of OAFLAD’s Steering Committee, focusing on strategic governance, programmatic priorities, and institutional decision-making. These preparatory engagements will culminate in the high-level Open Session on 15 February, accessible to invited partners and the media.

OAFLAD is the world’s largest network of First Ladies and a leading advocacy platform dedicated to advancing policies that expand access to quality health services, strengthen women’s and youth empowerment, and promote inclusive and sustainable development across Africa.

The General Assembly Open Session will feature high-level remarks by the OAFLAD President, members of the Steering Committee, and the First Lady of The Bahamas, alongside a distinguished roundtable of development partners. The session will also include the screening of a video highlighting the 2025–2027 continental campaign, “Building Resilience,” which showcases OAFLAD’s strategic priorities and collective action framework.

Held on the sidelines of the African Union Summit 2026, the Open Session will amplify the voices of women, girls, and vulnerable communities, calling for transformative policy action and renewed urgency from continental and global decision-makers
