ACTIVITY: NATIONAL CARAVAN “GENERATION EQUALITY”.
The ultimate goal of the caravan is to enhance the dignity and esteem of Congolese women by giving them the opportunity to know their rights. Four themes focusing on women empowerment were addressed during the awareness sessions bringing together women: Health (family planning, rights & access to health), Justice (marital rights, violence against women, inheritance rights), Work (access to counseling, access to funding) and Education (access to education). The caravan was launched in Kasai on March 08, 2020. Unfortunately, the progress of the caravan was halted by COVID 19.
RESULTS ACHIEVED
• 4 Modules developed on Women’s Rights-Health, Women’s Rights-Work, Women’s Rights-Education, Women’s Rights-Justice;
• 6 facilitators led the trainings;
• 948 women and girls were sensitized and attended the entire training session.
ACTIVITY: WOMEN EMPOWERMENT CAMPAIGN FOR WOMEN STREET VENDORS OF BREAD AND FRUIT.
The objective of the campaign is to breathe new life into local commerce in Kinshasa and other provinces of the DRC affected by the coronavirus crisis.
RESULTS ACHIEVED
• +7 500 households reached in the capital;
• 2 500 women street vendors of bread and fruit empowered in Kinshasa alone;
• +30% of sales of at least 50 artisanal bakeries run by Congolese nationals;
• Local entrepreneurship encouraged.
