Kaone Tumalano Boko is Botswana’s First Lady, the wife of Duma Gideon Boko, the 6th President of the Republic of Botswana. The First Lady is a distinguished commercial litigation attorney with a career spanning over a decade, marked by dedication to excellence in legal practice, corporate governance, and community impact. With a profound understanding of legal frameworks and an unwavering commitment to justice, Kaone has built a reputation as a trusted advisor, strategist, and advocate for ethical and compliant business practices.
An alumnus of the University of Botswana, she holds a Bachelor of Laws degree and is currently pursuing her Master of Laws. Her expertise further expands to Corporate Governance, Anti-Money Laundering and Insurance. These have enabled her to provide exceptional value in her professional role and related leadership appointments. Mrs Boko’s impact extends beyond the courtroom. She has held Board positions where she displayed her dedication to fostering transparency, accountability, and ethical practices in corporate governance.
The First Lady’s commitment to community service is evident in her participation in charitable public consultations, where she provides legal advice to marginalised communities. She is actively involved in initiatives that promote compliance within the micro-lending sector, contributing to the economic empowerment of individuals and businesses. Her charity involvement has centred around preserving and promoting the dignity of young women in boarding schools and other institutional facilities, donating sanitary pads, toiletries and blankets.
