Née le 9 mars 1967 au Sud-Kivu en République démocratique du Congo (RDC), Madame Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi est mariée et mère de 5 enfants. Elle a obtenu son diplôme (BAC) en RDC et a poursuivi ses études en Belgique où elle a ensuite entamé une carrière d'infirmière.

She is involved in the empowerment of Congolese women and girls, through her foundation “Fondation Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi (FDNT)”, created in May 2019.

Appointed UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador in May 2019, for the fight against gender-based violence and the empowerment of women, she was also named “World Champion for the Prevention of Conflict-Related Sexual Violence” by the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations in charge of this matter, in December 2019.
